About us

ferryireland.com is a comparison and information site for ferry connections to Ireland. It covers the direct crossings from France (Cherbourg, Roscoff, Dunkirk) and from Bilbao in Spain, plus the shorter routes via Great Britain (Holyhead, Fishguard, Pembroke) to Dublin, Rosslare and Cork. The routes are operated by several ferry companies, among them Irish Ferries, Stena Line, Brittany Ferries and DFDS.

What separates the two ways in is not the time at sea so much as how often the ship goes, and that decides how early the rest of the trip has to be fixed. Holyhead - Dublin runs several times a day in each direction, with a fast ferry that cuts the crossing to a little over two hours, so a sailing can be moved by a few hours without touching anything else. The long routes from Cherbourg, Roscoff, Dunkirk and Bilbao go a handful of times a week and put you on board overnight or longer, which makes the sailing date the first fixed point of the holiday rather than the last. We set routes, ports, crossing times and frequencies side by side and keep the car, motorhome and pet questions on their own pages, because the answer changes with the route you take.

We are not an Ireland travel guide and not a hotel portal, and we deliberately leave out sights in Ireland, hotel booking, flights and car rental.
