Where the port is
Rosslare Europort lies at the south-eastern tip of Ireland in County Wexford, in the village of Rosslare Harbour rather than in Rosslare Strand, the beach resort a few kilometres up the coast. The port is the end of the N25 and signposted from every approach road; the satnav address is Rosslare Europort, Ballygillane Big, Rosslare Harbour, Co. Wexford, Y35 PH4X. It is run by Iarnród Éireann, the Irish railway company, and handles 36 ferry sailings a week, which makes it Ireland's main gateway for direct crossings to and from mainland Europe.
From Wales
Two routes cross the Irish Sea from Pembrokeshire. Fishguard - Rosslare with Stena Line takes around 3 hours 30 minutes on the Stena Nordica, twice a day per direction, and Pembroke - Rosslare with Irish Ferries around 4 hours on the Isle of Innisfree, also twice daily and year-round. From France and Spain
Direct sailings avoid Great Britain altogether. Cherbourg - Rosslare with Brittany Ferries takes about 19 hours overnight, up to four times a week. Dunkirk - Rosslare with DFDS is the option for northern France, Belgium and the Netherlands: around 24 hours, cabin and meals included, vehicles only, with DFDS raising the service to seven weekly round trips from mid-September 2026. From northern Spain, Bilbao - Rosslare with Brittany Ferries takes around 30 hours, and in winter the company also sails between Rosslare and Santander.
Getting there, parking and check-in
By car the N25 brings you to the port from Wexford in about 20 minutes, from Waterford in 1 hour 20 minutes and from Cork in around 3 hours; from Dublin take the M11 and N11 south, about 2 hours 15 minutes. The port car park holds 350 cars with a height limit of 2.2 m, managed by APCOA as pay and display or via the APCOA Connect app with location code 0822, so larger motorhomes park elsewhere. Check-in deadlines are set by the operator: Irish Ferries closes vehicle check-in 30 minutes before departure and asks foot passengers to be there 40 minutes early, DFDS wants you at the terminal two to three hours before the Dunkirk sailing. Note the ID rule: from 28 September 2026 Stena Line requires a valid passport at check-in for everyone sailing from Rosslare and Fishguard, as on its Dublin and Holyhead routes.
Arriving without a car
Rosslare Europort has its own railway station about 15 minutes on foot from the terminal, with trains to Dublin Connolly only, around three hours; for Waterford and Cork you change to the bus. Bus Éireann runs hourly to Dublin and frequently to Waterford from the port. The Dunkirk route carries no foot passengers at all, so plan that crossing with a vehicle.
