Route guide

Pembroke - Rosslare ferry at a glance

Everything about the Pembroke - Rosslare route with Irish Ferries: getting to the Pembroke Dock terminal, check-in times, facilities on the Isle of Innisfree, vehicle and pet rules, and onward travel from Rosslare.

Getting to the Pembroke Dock terminal

The ferry port sits at the southwest tip of Wales; the terminal postcode is SA72 6UF. By car, the M4 and then the A477 give you a good run from London and the south of England. A car park right at the terminal covers the length of your trip.

If you're travelling as a foot or cycle passenger, Pembroke Dock railway station is close to the terminal, though only a handful of trains a day call there - plan your connections in advance.

Check-in and departure

Irish Ferries runs the route year-round with two sailings per direction each day. With a vehicle (car, motorhome, van), you need to be checked in and ready to board at least 30 minutes before departure. Foot and cycle passengers have a 40-minute cut-off, coach passengers an hour; if you're travelling with a pet, also allow an hour at the terminal. Have valid photo ID ready for check-in - for the crossing between Great Britain and Ireland, a passport is required.

On board the Isle of Innisfree

The route is served year-round by the cruise ferry Isle of Innisfree, with capacity for up to 1,140 passengers and around 600 cars. On board you'll find the self-service restaurant Boylan's Brasserie, Café Lafayette and - seasonally - O'Flaherty's Bar, alongside a duty-free shop and the Adventure Island play area for children. Cabins can be booked for the early departure from Pembroke, ranging from two- and four-berth cabins with or without a window to accessible cabins. If you'd like more peace and extra service, add the Club Class Lounge on Deck 9.

Vehicles, bikes and pets

Cars, motorhomes, caravans, motorbikes, minibuses and vans can all be brought along; give the correct vehicle dimensions when booking so there's no extra charge at check-in. Details on travelling with a camper are in our motorhome guide. Bicycles are carried too, with cyclists checking in 40 minutes before departure, the same as foot passengers.

Register your pet when booking, up to five animals per booking. The Isle of Innisfree has a Pet Den with its own outdoor area, plus free kennels on the car deck. To enter Ireland, your pet needs a valid EU pet passport with a rabies vaccination - our pets and animals guide sets out the rules.

Arriving in Rosslare and onward travel

Rosslare Europort lies in the southeast corner of Ireland (Eircode Y35 PH4X). The N25 takes you to Wexford, Waterford and the south of the country, while the N11 runs up the east coast to Dublin. Without a car, the train is a comfortable option: the railway station is about 600 metres from the terminal, roughly a ten-minute walk, with connections to Dublin and the rest of the Irish rail network. Bus Éireann coaches also run direct to Dublin and Waterford.

Tickets and fares

Irish Ferries offers the crossing in several fares: Economy is the cheapest, with a rebooking fee and no refund if you cancel. Flexi allows free rebooking and is refundable, while Flexi+ is the most flexible fare and includes access to the Club Class Lounge. Rebooking is only possible before the scheduled departure - if you want to stay flexible, add the Flexibility option when you book.

The best fares go to those who book early and travel in the off-season. The booking window shows current prices for your travel date, with a general overview in the prices overview.
